This year rather than send out hundreds of traditional Christmas cards to local businesses, agencies and other organisations; Great Yarmouth Borough Council has decided to donate £500 to the Royal Anglian Regiment appeal.
Barry Coleman, Leader of the Borough Council, believed this to be a fitting way to show support for an extremely worthy cause and to contribute towards the regiment’s appeal. He said: “With this small gesture we would like to show our support for the brave troops from the 1st Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment, who recently returned home from their tour of duty in Afghanistan.”
The appeal fund has attracted wide interest with events held county wide and there are many planned for the future for people to be involved with.
In January of next year we will see the Royal Anglian Regiment visit Great Yarmouth and exercise their right to ‘Freedom of the Borough’.
