As part of the Borough Council’s event ‘Your Borough, Your Council’, the Environmental Health Department held a ten question multiple choice quiz, based on Food Safety, Health & Safety and the new ‘Smoke Free’ legislation.

Fifty entries were received, with the first prize of a food safety training course, run by the Council, going to Sue Allison of Great Yarmouth.

Second prize was a bottle of wine won by Fiona McCully from Catfield and a box of chocolates for third prize went to Ariem Timar of Gorleston.  Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who took part.

The quiz, which saw a huge range in the marks, with many people only getting two or three correct, has indicated a need for an increase in knowledge in these subjects generally in the local community.

The Environmental Health Department produces a ‘Food Newsletter’ throughout the year, which provides details of the Food Hygiene Courses that the Council run.  The newsletters are delivered to local businesses to encourage them to take up training and increase knowledge of food safety issues.
