Bradwell Community Woodland Project

Planting time has come again for Bradwell Community Woodland Project with the last stage of planting due to take place on Sunday 18 November 2007 commencing at 10.30am.

The woodland site is situated on the land between El Alamein Way Estate and Mill Lane playing field and we are calling on all volunteers to come along and help plant a tree or two and help spread lots of mulch!

Please meet up at Mill Lane Community Centre and bring a spade if you can -refreshments will be available.

Vicki Collins, Secretary of Bradwell Community Woodland Project said: “Special thanks must go to the Forestry Commission for a grant to help to purchase the trees and to Great Yarmouth Borough Council for supplying copious amounts of mulch to put around the bases of the tree saplings.”

The project is helped by an environmental and educational charity the ‘Green Light Trust’, which through their ‘people planting scheme’ helps communities create and manage their own woodland. This is on a long-term, sustainable basis for pleasure, learning, health and wildlife. As part of the Green Light Trust’s school rolling programme, some children from Hillside and Homefield First schools will be starting the planting off on Friday 16 November 2007, along with parent helpers.

Anyone wanting to contact the project can email: bradwellwood@hotmail.co.uk.
