Once again, in conjunction with the Maritime Festival, the Town Hall opened its doors to the general public over the weekend of 8/9 September.

Year on year this proves to be a popular event and this year all records were broken with the number of visitors to the Town Hall.  Almost 5000 people, over the course of the weekend, passed through the doors and thoroughly enjoyed all the events and displays that were on show.  Robin Hodds, Member Services Manager, commented that the Open Day Weekend had proved to be a great success and many complimentary comments had been received from both locals and visitors to the Town.  He said it was particularly encouraging to receive such comments as “Good to see public buildings buzzing”,; “Assembly Room a knockout” and “Fantastic, wonderful array of items”.
