Borough Council Signs Climate Change Declaration

Great Yarmouth Borough Council will tomorrow (Tuesday 25 September) add its name to over 200 local authorities nationally that have signed the Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change.

The Declaration is a voluntary pledge to address the issues of climate change. It was originally launched in October 2000 at a conference in Nottingham and was re-launched in December 2005 at the Second National Councils ClimateConference.

Council Leader Barry Coleman and Executive Director Peter Hardy will sign the Declaration during the ‘Your Borough, Your Councils’ event being held in Great Yarmouth Market Place (Monday 24 Sept, 1pm to 4.30pm and Tuesday 25 Sept, 10am to 4.30pm). Free low-energy light bulbs are being given away on Tuesday.

The signing will take place at noon on Tuesday 25 September in the Market Place marquee. This will be immediately followed by the public launch of cooking oil collection service for conversion to biodiesel.
