Great Yarmouth’s entry in this year’s ‘Britain in Bloom’ awards was a great success achieving a ‘Quality Silver’ award.  Judges visited Great Yarmouth on the 11^th July and Gorleston on the 23 July and were particularly impressed with the wonderful floral displays along the Great Yarmouth seafront.

Sue Hacon, the co-ordinator for Great Yarmouth’s annual Anglia and Britain in Bloom competition said: “I feel very proud and this shows that Great Yarmouth is very much on the way up.  This award benefits both locals and visitors and encourages people to come to the town.”

Simon Mutten, the Council’s Service Manager for the Environment was also pleased with the award, which was an improvement on last year.  Simon added: “This shows that the Borough is moving in the right direction and we will be studying the judge’s comments to see how we can make further improvements for next year.”

Councillor Jim Shrimplin, Cabinet Member for the Environment, extended his thanks to all those involved in helping to maintain the high standard and create such beautiful displays for residents and visitors to enjoy.
