Great Yarmouth businesses invited to exhibit their skills

Engineering businesses in Great Yarmouth are being encouraged to participate in the Exhibition of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (EAME) next month.

“Great Yarmouth businesses are well-regarded for their skills in the manufacturing and engineering sectors with their applications being used all over the world,” says Peter Wright, Economic Development Officer.

Following on from the success of the inaugural EAME in 2007, this year’s event will host up to 70 trade stands showcasing the region’s capabilities in engineering and manufacturing. The exhibition is being held at Hethel Engineering Centre near Norwich on 16-19 September and will cover marine, aerospace and automotive industries.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is the latest to confirm support for this event alongside Business Link, Shaping Norfolk’s Future, City College Norwich, EEDA, Norfolk County Council and ExDRA.

Global microelectronics company, C-MAC MicroTechnology has already signed up to the event. “It will be an excellent forum to promote the high technology and skills of companies in Great Yarmouth and we are very pleased to be part of it,” said Paul Hill, General Manager, Aerospace and Defence at C-MAC.

In addition to showcasing industry excellence, the final days of EAME will allow schools from across the region to access the engineering and manufacturing sector and see what they really do.

“Our ongoing work with schools is also very important to us and this event is a great opportunity for us to engage and encourage our future workforce” he added.

Business Development Manager, Dr Dorian Hindmarsh, organising the four-day showcase, says: “Already 80% of exhibition space has been allocated and we are hoping for over 400 companies to attend. Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s support of this key event signifies the importance of these industries to the town.” It’s not too late for companies from Great Yarmouth to participate: “There are still very cost effective exhibition opportunities available,“ confirmed Dr Hindmarsh.

Alongside the exhibition, a conference on sustainability will take place on day two covering everything from environment to energy, consideration in manufacturing through to process and business sustainability.
