Beach volleyball grand slam: Great Yarmouth bank holiday weekend

Ladies Volleyball on Great Yarmouth Beach

Visitors to Great Yarmouth will be able to watch some of Britain’s most talented Beach Volleyball players take part in a range of competitions on Great Yarmouth’s famous Central Beach, alongside the Britannia Pier over the August Bank Holiday weekend when the Volleyball England Beach Tour Grand Slam returns to the resort for a second year over the August Bank Holiday weekend on 23 and 24 August.

Organised by the Volleyball England Beach Commission governing body, and sponsored by helpucover who along with FTS, with its locally based call centre in Gorleston, is part of the BNP Paribas Assurance group, the competition in Great Yarmouth is one of three ‘major events’ in the Grand Slam tour. The top teams’ pairs competition will be a session highlight and huge crowd puller on Sunday.  For less advanced players there will also be a Division 2 pairs’ competition, as well as standard competitions for those who just want to take part and play for fun.

Great Yarmouth is one of Britain’s greatest seaside resorts with large, sandy beaches and an array of exciting attractions and entertainment all along the seafront, providing plenty to do for visitors during the competition.

Team Volleyball on Great Yarmouth Beach

Councillor Graham Plant Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Tourism said ‘We are pleased to welcome this National Beach Volleyball tour back to Great Yarmouth.  This is set to be an exciting event encouraging sports and volleyball participation within the Borough. Such events are important to us in strengthening the events programme within the local area and building Great Yarmouth’s reputation as a ‘Festival’ destination.’

Pauline Duggan, Media Relations Manager for FTS added:  "We are delighted to be sponsoring the games.  We wish all teams participating in the tournament the best of luck and offer our congratulations to Great Yarmouth Council for once again hosting such a prestigious event.”
