Dirty Deeds Under the Cover of Night
If you are fed up with standing in dog mess then help us to catch the owners who aren’t clearing up, is the appeal from Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s Environmental Rangers.
To bring more successful prosecutions, including one that cost an owner £330, the Council needs witnesses!
Miguel Fish, Environmental Ranger at Great Yarmouth Borough Council said: “We have received numerous complaints about dog fouling in certain areas. It’s usual for this time of the year as owners think that the cover of night is a good excuse not to clear up after their pets.
“Most dog owners are responsible but we would like to appeal to any residents who see individuals breaking the law to contact us.”
“We have tried several measures including letters, dog fouling stickers, and involving schools and communities through visits and community dog watch schemes. But, unfortunately this isn’t always producing the results we need - the answer is people who are prepared to help take a case to court by being a witness.”
Some of theareas suffering from the inaction of irresponsible owners are South Quay, Nottingham Way, Garden Gate, the Havelock Road area, Emerald Park, Victoria Park, Southtown Common, Elm Avenue, Hall Road, Hemsby, Brush Quay Gorleston (opposite King William PH), Marine Parade and beach areas around the borough.
Concerns have also been raised at Hemsby, especially around the Beach Road and North Road areas. Close attention is also being paid to the public footpath that runs alongside OrmesbyMiddle School - of particular concern due to the close proximity of the school.
