Welcome Improvements at Runham Vauxhall

Improvements are on the way at Runham Vauxhall, with funding now secured to give a redundant piece of land a welcome make-over.

The area, a piece of land, between Vauxhall Bridge and the railway station is to be environmentally enhanced with new seating and information boards – informing people about the varied wildlife of the Broads and the surrounding landscape.  A Wherry Sail Sculpture will also be included, situated for both visitors and residents to enjoy.

The funding has been raised by a number of partners including Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Norfolk County Council, Asda Supermarket, Wherrylines Community Rail Partnership and the Fairshares Trust.

Councillor Graham Plant, Cabinet member for Regeneration and Tourism said: “I view this as a very positive development for this area of the town.  It will not only improve visitor’s first impressions of Great Yarmouth but also enhance the area for local people.”

The Council are looking to produce the Wherry Sail locally in order to promote sustainable development in Great Yarmouth and work to clear the land is to begin shortly.

The area forms the start of the Wherryman’s Way Footpath, which runs to Whittlingham Country Park  in Norwich.

Further information on Wherryman’s Way can be viewed at www.wherrymansway.net
