Good Citizens come Feast and Celebrate Your History

OYEZ, OYEZ adorn your finest apparel and join the celebration feast is the invitation to the good citizens of the borough of Great Yarmouth.

The feast is to be held on May 17 as part of Great Yarmouth’s 800th Charter celebrations. Guests are being encouraged to don medieval costumes as they mark eight centuries of civic freedom.

“We are holding the event in St Nicholas Parish Church,” explained Mayoral and Civic Events Officer, Laura Goodman. “It will add to the splendour of a glittering evening, and we do encourage people to dress for the occasion. We are compiling a list of costumiers who will be able to supply the appropriate dress.

“The feast will include a broth of vegetables, fresh salmon and several roast meats - as befits the 13th century.

“Music will be supplied by Minstrels Gallery, together with jesters and fire eaters to add to the authenticity.

“The event will be limited to 170 people so I advise anyone who wants to be wined and dined in the fashion of old, to book promptly.”

Tickets are available at £40 a head, which includes a commemorative charter goblet and a bottle of charter ale, thanks to the feast’s sponsors Great Yarmouth Potteries and Blackfriars Brewery.
