Great Yarmouth Borough Council is inviting taxi passengers to use their democratic rights to voice an opinion on proposed rises in fares.
Great Yarmouth Borough Taxi Association has submitted a fare increase on the starting price, which equates to 40p for a standard journey and £1 for the Christmas and New Year rate.
The proposal will be considered by the Licensing Committee at its April 16 meeting and, if approved, advertised to see if there is any objection from the public.
“The advert involves publishing a public notice which may not be seen by many people,” said Licensing and Elections Manager, Linda Mockford.
“So we are offering the public two opportunities - they can make their views known now, to be taken into consideration when the proposal goes before the committee - but if they miss that they can respond to the public notice.”
Anyone interested can view the full proposal at the Council offices during normal office hours or telephone 01493 846201 for more information. Views can also be emailed to licensing@great-yarmouth.gov.uk
