DERT to Get to Work on Magdalen Estate
PR257
For Immediate Release
20 September 2006
Great Yarmouth’s DERT team is set to spruce up Queens Crescent, on Gorleston’s Magdalen estate on Friday (22).
It is the latest in a series of environmental action days which sees specific areas of the Borough targeted by the Dynamic Environmental Response Team (DERT), which is operated by GYB Services, for Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
The environmental action days are organised with the Council’s Housing Department which contacts residents to inform them of the date and how they can benefit.
Residents are given the opportunity to get rid of bulky items and white goods, while pavements and surrounding areas receive a mechanical clean and even have the weeds removed between pavements and walls.
Recent actions days have seen 21 tons of rubbish removed from the Halfway House area, and a vote of thanks for work carried out on Baliol and Paston Roads at the beginning of September.
Tenant’s representative Fred Learmonth sent a message to Housing Environmental Services Manager Justin Gibbs to thank him for the DERT team’s efforts.
He said: “I have got in touch with you to congratulate you on a job well done. The team were very polite and professional.
“I send my grateful thanks on behalf of myself and the residents of both roads, and I am sure that this will encourage them to continue to take a pride in their community.”
The DERT team also carries out regular deep cleaning routines on roads throughout the Borough, so if asked please ensure your road is clear of parked cars.
For further information contact Housing Environmental Services Manager Justin Gibbs on 01493 846211.
