The Council has a Monitoring Officer to check that the Council is carrying out its statutory functions in accordance with the requirements of local government legislation, the Council's own Standing Orders and the principles of natural justice.

Register of Gifts and Hospitality Received
Register of Authorisations for surveillance under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act
The first three of these may be inspected on application, the last only by Court Order.
There is a
Model Code of Conduct (36kb) which governs the actions of Councillors.

For complaints about maladministration in connection with actions or decisions of the Council as opposed to individual Councillors, please read the section on the Council's Complaints Procedure. If the problem is not satisfactorily resolved it may then be referred to the Local Government Ombudsman
