Golden Mile Development Opportunity Planning Brief
Great Yarmouth Borough Council is promoting the redevelopment of a prime site situated on the seafront to enhance the status of Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile (i.e. the seafront between Euston Road and the Pleasure Beach) following formal approval by the Council’s Cabinet on 21 February 2007.
In order to ensure the delivery and success of such a scheme the Council considers it vital that development on the site is straightforward and well-guided through a Planning Brief.
The main role of this Planning Brief is to ensure that any development is designed in accordance with the aims and objectives of the statutory Great Yarmouth Borough – Wide Local Plan (2001) and the emerging Local Development Framework (LDF). It also takes into consideration specific national guidance on good design and crime prevention and other relevant planning documents published by the Council and external bodies, providing a robust framework to ensure the priority aims are met.
The brief was published for consultation on Friday 23 March 2007 to Friday 4 May 2007. Following the Great Yarmouth Local Development Framework Working Party held on 15 October 2007 and Cabinet on 19 December 2007 the Golden Mile Planning Brief has now been adopted and is available to download below.
The Planning Brief now acts as a material consideration in the determination of any future planning application relating to the site. As such any designs submitted should accord with the brief’s principles before planning permission is granted. For further information, please visit the Golden Mile Development Opportunity webpage.
