Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) outlines how Great Yarmouth Borough Council intends to involve the local community and key organisations in the preparation of the Local Development Framework for the Borough. It also outlines the arrangements for consultation on applications for planning permission. The SCI is effective for the whole of the Borough.
The Council welcomes the Governments guidelines that require councils to consult far more extensively than before, both in deciding what goes into planning policy documents and before making decisions on planning applications.
On the 29th June, the Council submitted its revised draft Statement of Community Involvement to the Secretary of State for Independent Examination. In preparation, the Council had to prepare a statement of compliance detailing how we have compiled with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulation 2004. The statement of compliance explains how the Council have dealt with the consultation under Regulation 25, how the Council have sought representations in accordance with Regulation 26 and how the Council has addressed the representations received in the submitted Statement of Community Involvement.
