Fines Send a Clear Message to Town's Food Business Operators
Mr Alan Zhang, of 1 Osborne Avenue, Great Yarmouth pleaded guilty to seven charges under the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006 on Friday 30 November 2007 at Great Yarmouth Magistrate Court and was sentenced to fines of £505 as an early guilty plea had been submitted, and was also prohibited from running a food business in the future.

Chemicals Put Bathers At Risk
An investigation by the Borough Council’s Environmental Health Department was carried out after bathers holidaying at the Seashore Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth had to attend the James Paget Hospital after becoming unwell.

Repairs on Town’s Flagship Building
A major project to renew the roof of the 125 year old Town Hall will begin on Monday 3rd December. The required work, which is hoped to be completed by summer 2008, is being undertaken by contractors MS Oakes Ltd.

Recycling Opportunities at Christmas Time
At this year's Christmas Fayre, Recycling Officers will be holding a stall in the Market Place from Friday 30 November to Sunday 2 December. Officers will be on hand to help with any recycling queries and provide additional information on facilities around the Borough. There will also be lots of waste saving tips to use over the Christmas period and into the New Year.

Christmas Card Donation
This year rather than send out hundreds of traditional Christmas cards to local businesses, agencies and other organisations; Great Yarmouth Borough Council has decided to donate £500 to the Royal Anglian Regiment appeal.

Council Reaffirms it’s Commitment to Scratby Residents

Ministers Visit Flood Operation in Great Yarmouth
Floods Recovery Minister John Healey and East of England Minister Barbara Follett visited Great Yarmouth today to meet local people evacuated from their homes last night as a precaution ahead of the expected flooding.

Ghoulish Fun at the Neighbourhood Centre

It is expected that receding water will leave some silt and other material. The Council will be carrying out assessments of affected areas so that additional cleaning and litter clearance can be organised. Great Yarmouth Borough Council has provided a dedicated phone line 01493 846478 for the public to contact them if they know of any areas that require cleaning as a result of flooding.

Severe Flood Warning – Advice to Public
Norfolk Constabulary, working with other partner agencies in the public sector, have the necessary specialist resources and contingency plans in place to deal with a potential serious flood threat or breach of sea defences in Great Yarmouth.

Don't Miss the Bus - Extra Dates for Free Bus Pass Applications
A series of Registration Events are currently being held at the Town Hall in Great Yarmouth to enable current bus pass holders to have their photograph taken for the new National Concessionary Bus Pass – part of the new National Travel Scheme that entitles holders to free bus travel anywhere in England.

Trees for Life
Each year Great Yarmouth Borough Council in partnership with GYB Services offers parents the opportunity to plant a tree to celebrate the birth of their child – so far this year just eight families have responded.

Walking is good for everyone – and last Wednesday a group of eighteen blind and visually impaired people ‘plus a guide dog’ and seven volunteer guides, braved the rather ‘keen’ easterly winds, to enjoy a stroll from the waterways at North Denes to the harbour’s mouth.
