A Music Festival planned for St Nicholas Recreation ground in Great Yarmouth this weekend will not now be taking place.

A spokesperson for Great Yarmouth Borough Council said ‘whilst an approach was made to the Borough Council to hold this event, permission was never given.

When it was brought to our attention that the organisers had, despite this, publicised the event and organised bands etc. we called them in and made it clear they did not have permission. Because of the fact that it had been advertised we agreed we would consider approval subject to restrictions and the provision of  a proper Risk Assessment and Health and Safety Plan. Despite extending a deadline for provision of  all necessary information it was not forthcoming and we were left with no option but to deny permission.
