Disabled Parking Charges in Great Yarmouth

August 1 will see the implementation of disabled parking charges in Great Yarmouth.

“The charges were agreed two years ago after consultations with local groups representing disabled motorists,” explained Property Service Manager Robin Neve. “They come with the backing of the majority of the groups.

“The new system will see all users of car parks throughout the borough paying the same charges. The funding has allowed the Council to improve facilities in its car parks.

“This includes increasing the number of designated disabled user parking spaces by five per cent, improving access and paving in the car parks.

“The wider parking berths give users of wheelchairs more space to enter and leave their vehicles.”

New signage will be introduced to the car parks over the next month and leaflets will also be distributed explaining the new system.

Once the system is implemented disabled motorists not displaying a valid car park ticket will be subject to fixed penalty fine in line with all other users.
