Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA)

Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) is a method of assessment and inspection for Local Councils introduced in 2001.  CPA aims to help councils improve services to local people. The core process consists of an inspection, led by the Audit Commission, which looks at the capacity of the Council to manage improvement at the highest political and managerial level.

The process took place in Great Yarmouth in 2003 and Great Yarmouth was judged to be a ‘GOOD’ Council.

The Government is reshaping the CPA methodology and the next inspection for this Council is unlikely to take place until late 2006 or early 2007.
