Electronic Government The Government has set national targets designed to improve delivery and value for money of local services. These targets include the delivery of priority services electronically by December 2005. The Council is committed to improving the quality of the services it provides to citizens and as has embraced this target as a challenge to deliver better services through better use of technology.

As part of its drive to put citizens and staff at the heart of any approach to service improvement the council will focus on outcomes for citizens and staff and avoid the pursuit of technology for its own sake. The Council will challenge the traditional provider focus for service provision and will seek to structure service provision with needs of customers as the central priority.
