Failure To Pay
If you fail to pay your instalments by the due date given on your bill, recovery action will commence. All instalment payers will be subject to the same recovery procedures in accordance with the National Non-Domestic Rate (Administration and Enforcement) Regulations. The following action is taken:
- A Final Notice will be issued if your payment is not made when due.
- Failure to comply with a Final Notice will lead to the issue of a summons by the Magistrates Court. Costs associated with the recovery action will be applied for.
- Great Yarmouth Borough Council applies to the court for a Liability Order which allows the Council to:
- Use bailiffs to obtain payment
- Instigate insolvency proceedings
- Apply for committal to prison.
If you receive a Final Notice or Summons, it is very important to pay the amount as shown. If you have any difficulty in making these payments then please contact us to see whether we can help.
