Great Yarmouth has a long history of providing electronic technology with a wide range of applications including the automotive, computer hardware, defence, telecoms and engineering sectors. These capabilities have helped to develop a significant cluster of electronics expertise within the Borough.
In the 1990s, the Borough Council’s Economic Development Unit facilitated the setting up of the East Anglia Electronics Liaison Group (ANGLE), a loosely affiliated group of electronics companies that joined forces to undertake joint training and promotional activities.
Over the years, ANGLE evolved to become the collective voice of the advanced engineering element of the Shaping Norfolk's Future’s Engineering Sector Group. The development has led to the creation of two further ANGLE groups based in Kings Lynn and Norwich both modelled on the ‘Great Yarmouth’ concept.
The ANGLE-GY group meets quarterly to learn about new developments and opportunities, liaise with the Engineering Department of Great Yarmouth College about training and apprentice issues and network with fellow members.
