The Health and Safety team within the Council aim to protect public health in all matters in relation to Health and Safety.

We do this by:

1. Carrying out programmed routine Health and Safety inspections to check compliance with Health and Safety law

2. Investigating workplace accidents, incidents and complaints.

3. Providing advice and information on Health and Safety for employers, employees and the local community.

In October 2000 the team launched its Health and Safety for Small Businesses Information Pack. This is a valuable source of help and information for all small businesses trying to find their way through the minefield of Health and Safety legislation. This pack has been recently revised and together with supplementary guides for catering and hotel premises as well as owners of swimming pools. It can be downloaded for free by clicking on Small Business Guide or Supplements link in the Health & Safety Menu on the right of this page.
