Great Yarmouth Borough Council is committed to reducing the ever increasing tonnages of waste that are generated locally. On average household’s produce 1 tonne of waste each year and with over 44,000 local homes it’s easy to see this adds up to a tremendous amount of rubbish.
To reduce this we are working with a number of different organisations including our neighbouring local authorities, the County Council and private companies. Most of all however, we are working with you, our local residents.
Over the last 3 years our recycling rate has risen from 11.8% to 26.7%. Although this is a great start there is still a great deal more we can all do to help reduce, re-use and recycle our waste.
