FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is asking residents to stay safe at night by reporting faults with street lights.

Recently the town’s environmental rangers toured the Borough to identify where street or walkway lights needed replacing or repairing.

“The majority of the lighting was sound,” said Head of Environmental Health John Hemsworth. “But where we did identify faults, they were reported and the majority have been dealt with.”

“A similar check was carried out in October but the Council needs the help of the public,” said Graham Jermyn Services Director for GYB Services, the Council’s partner which carries out the service work.

“If a fault is spotted a call to 01493 846846 will set the ball rolling. A faulty bulb is easy to replace, but we need to know where it is.

“It helps if people can note the number stencilled on the post, the name of the street and the area it is in.”

The main highway lighting and street signs are not part of GYB Service’s responsibility but the organisation is happy to alert Norfolk County Council to any problems, if it receives a report from the public.

For more information call Services Director for GYB Services Graham Jermyn on 01493 846465.
