Blooms throughout Great Yarmouth and Gorleston have shrugged off the vagaries of a British summer to greet residents and visitors alike with a splash of colour.
Anyone happening on Priory Gardens, in Gorleston, will have enjoyed a riot of colour with marigold, geranium, millet and lobelia just a few of the thousands of bedding plants tended by GYB Services, who has the care of the parks and gardens for Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
Not to be outdone - the anchor-shaped flower beds on Great Yarmouth seafront are as vibrant as ever packed with red geraniums, yellow marigolds, blue and white lobelia and the silver-foliaged cineraria marking our the rope.
“The great British summer can be a nightmare for gardeners,” said Grounds and Leisure Manager, Peter Holland. “But as ever our team has created a display to be proud of.
“In July we planted about 67,000 bedding plants and during the summer have cut miles of grass to keep the borough looking good.
“Watering hasn’t been so demanding this year, but it is good to see that the choice of plants has held up to the downpours we have had recently.
“With the Bank Holiday on the horizon Great Yarmouth and Gorleston are ready to greet everyone in a blaze of colour.”
