Action packed bank holiday weekend in Great Yarmouth

Visitors to Great Yarmouth are in for a super Bank Holiday weekend withsomething for the whole family to enjoy. The fun starts on Saturday morning when two days of Beach Volleyball get underway with players from around the country competing on the beach near Britannia Pier as part of the Glad Slam Great Yarmouth Classic. The competition will culminate with the women’s and men’s pairs’ finals on Sunday afternoon.

For those who prefer a slightly slower pace, the opening ceremony for the International Bowls Tournament takes place on Sunday morning at 9am prior to four weeks of intense competitive games, played out on the Britannia Bowling Greens with the grand final taking place on 19 September. On Sunday afternoon at 2pm the Great Yarmouth Brass Band will strike up for a musical performance on the Sea Life Centre gardens, meanwhile the Barry James band will be playing at the newly refurbished Gorleston bandstand at 2pm.

Finally, at 6pm on Sunday evening, 85 East Coast Truckers will roll into the resort and along Marine Parade as part of the Children’s Charity Convey.

This action packed weekend will be rounded off on Wednesday evening at 10pm with the last summer fireworks of the season. The evening will get underway with the popular Radio Broadland road show at 8pm near The Jetty with presenters and DJ’s from the station, performances on stage and music, along with the Black Thunder team.
