A commemorative charter goblet and a bottle of specially brewed ale to sup from it, are part of Great Yarmouth’s feast to celebrate its 800th charter year.

The goblet and beer have both been made in Great Yarmouth as keepsakes of the celebrations which will see 170 residents dressed in medieval costume celebrate the freedom that King John’s charter brought to the town.

Mayoral and Civic Events officer, Laura Goodman warns that there are only 60 tickets left for the event on May 17.

To be held in St Nicholas Church, the feast will feature dishes popular in the 13th century including fresh salmon and roast meats. Entertainment will include minstrels, jesters and fire eaters.

Tickets are available at £40 each from Laura Goodman on 01493 846125 or email , together with a list of costume hire businesses.

The goblet and ale are being supplied by Great Yarmouth Potteries and Blackfriars Brewery.
