It is the aim of Great Yarmouth Borough Council as the single largest provider of Off Street Parking to provide safe and reasonably priced parking facilities suitable for the needs of a variety of different users, including the management of the coach and lorry park at Beach Coach Station.

Both the Town centre and Seafront offers short and long stay parking tariffs to suit the differing needs of all users.

As part of our continuing efforts to improve on the service provided we have assessed our car park portfolio and begun a programme of works that includes the following. The resurfacing of pay and display car parks and this will hopefully continue subject to meeting the challenge of funding, the replacement of our pay and display machines which has allowed the setting of more flexible tariffs to meet with customer demands, and work has commenced on the long overdue task of resurfacing Beach Coach Station to deal with localised flooding problems suffered in recent years.

We feel it is also important that users of the pay and display car parks are provided with facilities that give as much of a sense of safety as is practicable. Therefore opportunities are being explored to improve on lighting, installation of C.C.T.V. cameras, secure routes from and to the car parks and patrolling officers in efforts to achieve secure car park status.

It is important to note that our Market Place Car Park is host to the market stalls on various days and on the days prior to the Market, the car park will close at 17.00 hours to allow the market traders to enter and set up their stalls. In the summer months, the Market is held on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and in the winter, Wednesdays and Saturdays, apart from the Christmas Market which is held on Fridays in December. Cars found on the car parks after 17.00 hours on the days prior to the market will be issued with offence notices, Signs are distributed throughout the car park on the pay and display machines and at the entrance to the car park.
