Are you entitled to Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit?
The information below will help you to assess what benefits are available and how you can go about checking whether you are entitled to a reduction in either your rent payments or council tax.
Are you on a low Income? Do you pay rent or council tax?
If you answer 'yes' to these questions you may be entitled to housing benefit and Council Tax benefit to reduce the amount you pay.
Council Tax discount: Are you entitled to it?
If you are the only adult resident in your home, your Council Tax should be reduced by one quarter. Your bill will confirm if you are receiving a discount.
Are you disabled?
If you are disabled or a disabled person lives with you in your home, you may be entitled to a reduction in your council tax.
