Introduction to PTD

This section explains all about Pre-Tenancy Determinations and how they might be necessary for a claim for Housing Benefit.

If you are looking for rented accommodation and need to know the amount of eligible rent for Housing Benefit purposes before you move in, then you must obtain a PTD.

You can ask for more than one PTD at a time, if you are interested in more than one property.

This will tell you how much of your rent would be used to work out Housing Benefit. It will help you to decide whether you can afford to rent the property before you make an agreement with the landlord.

A PTD does not however tell you how much Housing Benefit you will get.
