On March 12 Great Yarmouth Borough Council held its first Civic Awards.

Her Worship the Mayor Sue Robinson and her secretary Laura Goodman instigated the scheme to help celebrate the many citizens of the Borough who give freely of their time to help other people and to lift the profile of Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and their surrounding villages, the recognition they deserve.

The nine categories in the Civic Awards were well supported both through the number of people nominated and from the sponsorship received from individuals, businesses and organisations.
