We are preparing a new Local Plan for the Borough which will guide development for the next 15 years. Once adopted, all planning applications will be assessed against the policies in the Local Plan.
The Local Plan consists of 3 main documents:
This document sets out the overall vision and planning strategy for the Borough to 2029. Once completed, other Local Plan documents will be informed by policies within the Core Strategy.
This document sets out detailed planning policies and allocates sites for different uses such as housing and employment.
Aims to regenerate significant previously developed riverside sites in the heart of Great Yarmouth.
There are a number of other documents which provide evidence and further detail on the main Local Plan documents or monitor the policies they contain:
The Local Plan is informed by an extensive evidence base which includes studies on flood risk, retail and employment. This evidence is then used to provide a sound base for the policies and plans contained in each Local Plan Document.
Monitors the progress of the emerging Local Plan and is an important tool for assessing the effectiveness of its policies. It includes an assessment of the emerging Local Plan’s progress, performance against national and local indicators and estimated future housing delivery. The latest document is available under further information.
Sets out how the local community and stakeholders will be consulted on planning documents. It is a key tool in ensuring that everyone who wants to has the opportunity to have their say on planning related matters. The latest document is available under further information.
Sets out the programme for the preparation of Local Plan documents. The LDS contains a brief description of the Local Plan documents that are being prepared with a timetable for their production. The latest document is available under further information.
The Local Plan Working Party is an informal group whose purpose is to inform and advise the key decisions on matters relating to Local Plan production.
The latest documents from the Local Plan Working Party on 22 July 2013 are available to view under further information.
