Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan status

The Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan was adopted by Great Yarmouth Borough Council on the 21 July 2022 and by the Broads Authority on 28 July 2022.  The plan now forms part of the development plan for both Great Yarmouth Borough Council and the Broads Authority.

Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan examination

The Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan received a 'yes' vote at referendum on 16 June 2022 and was adopted by the Borough Council on 21 July 2022 and the Broads Authority on the 29 July 2022.

Examiner's report

The examiner assessed whether the Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan met the basic conditions and other matters set out in paragraph 8 of schedule 4B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended). Having assessed the plan, the examiner confirmed that he was satisfied it met these requirements, subject to modifications.

The examiner

An independent examiner, Nigel McGurk, was appointed to examine the Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan. The examiner tested whether the Neighbourhood Plan met the basic conditions as required by paragraph 8 (1a) of schedule 4B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. Representations made at regulation 16 consultation were considered by the examiner.

Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan referendum

The Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan referendum was held on Thursday 16 June 2022. The question that was asked at the referendum was:

Do you want Great Yarmouth Borough Council and the Broads Authority to use the Neighbourhood Plan for the parish of Fleggburgh to help them decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area? 

The Neighbourhood Plan received a 'yes' vote at referendum on 16 June 2022 and was adopted at Full Council on 21 July 2022. Full details of the result can be found on the Result of referendum: Fleggburgh page.

Fleggburgh Regulation 16 consultation and submission

Regulation 16 consultation on the Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan ran for eight weeks from Friday 20 August to Friday 15 October 2021.

Fleggburgh area designation

An application by Fleggburgh Parish Council to have the whole parish of Fleggburgh designated as a Neighbourhood Plan area was received on 15 March 2019. The application was considered by the Borough Council (and the Broads Authority) and the Fleggburgh Neighbourhood Plan area was formally designated on Thursday 04 April 2019.
