From June 2019, the Council's Handy Person Service has changed.
If you are over 60 or are disabled, our Handy Person Service can complete small home maintenance jobs to help you stay living safely at home for longer. Here is an example of the type of jobs we can undertake:
- fit a key safe - the police approved Supra C500
- replace toilet seat or syphon
- resecure a carpet
- fit door and window locks
- fit draught proofing
- fit energy efficient light bulb(s)
We are no longer able to undertake any repairs for:
- rewiring
- providing additional electrical sockets
- boiler or heating repairs
- routine garden maintenance
- plumbing of appliances such as a washing machine
- unblocking drains
- any job that requires our Handy Person to work at height (8ft and over)
The Handy Person operative will also carry out a Home Safety audit when he visits you and will undertake any identified works from the audit, with your consent.
