Void management policy and void standard
Summary
Great Yarmouth Borough Council is committed to achieving high standards in its management of empty properties.
The aims of the Void Management Policy are to:
- identify new void properties quickly and minimise the time they are empty
- undertake repairs to properties efficiently so that rent loss is minimised and homes are available to re-let at the earliest possible time
- repair properties to an agreed lettable standard, providing new tenants with a clean, well maintained home
- minimise any adverse effects that a property standing empty has on neighbouring dwellings and the wider community
- allocate new homes to applicants with the highest housing need
