About us: Great Yarmouth Borough Council (the Council), Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 2QF, 01493 856100, is the data controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR).
How we use your data: We will use the personal information you provide for the purposes of responding to your Freedom of Information or Environmental Information request. The processing of this information is necessary for the Council to undertake a public task as defined under Article 6(1)(e) of the UK GDPR, ie the processing is necessary for the Council to perform a task in the public interest or for its official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law, in this case the Freedom of Information Act 2000 or Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
Your data will be used for this specific purpose although your details may be shared between Council departments to enable us to provide you with a complete response. If your request relates to information held by GY Norse or GYB Services on the Council's behalf, the details you have provided will be shared with the company that holds the information in order to allow them to provide you with a full response.
Additionally, we will always use or share information for the prevention or detection of crime or the apprehension or prosecution of offenders.
Your information will be kept strictly confidential. It will be stored in an access-controlled database held in a secure, password-protected environment within the Council's computer system.
How long we hold your data: Your personal information will be kept for six years from the conclusion of your request, after which time it will be securely destroyed. We will only use your data within the terms of data protection laws. We will review dates for keeping personal data in the future and if necessary, update these privacy notices.
Your rights: You have a number or rights available to you, including the potential right to see copies of all the data held about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, to request the Council to restrict what it does with your data in certain circumstances, to object to what the Council may do with your data, and to data portability.
