Fullers Hill cycling and walking improvements get underway

Work starting on the Transport for Great Yarmouth project on Monday (28 January) will see three sections of pavement converted into shared-use pedestrian/cycle paths, all connected by new toucan crossings.

A signalised pedestrian-only crossing will also be put in place across Fullers Hill, near its junction with Northgate Street.

Cllr Martin Wilby, Chair of Norfolk County Council's Environment, Development and Transport Committee, says: "This work continues the county council's investment of funding from New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership's Local Growth Fund to reduce congestion and provide better sustainable transport links around the town. Creating high quality walking and cycling facilities will make a huge difference to those who live, work and visit Great Yarmouth."

Mick Castle, Norfolk County Councillor for Yarmouth North and Central, says: "This is a great project, which is designed to make it quicker, easier and safer to travel around the Fullers Hill area on foot and by bike.

"I would like to thank everyone for their patience while work takes place. This has been scheduled in the quieter, winter period to avoid impact on the town's holiday industry. We will work with our contractor to keep any disruption to a minimum throughout the project."
