Adaptations policy for Council Tenants

Summary

Under section 8 of the Housing Act 1985 the council has a duty to consider housing conditions in its area and have regard to the needs of chronically sick and disabled persons. This includes the provision or adaptation of existing accommodation for its own disabled tenants.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council provides funding each year for the provision of aids and adaptations to enable its tenants to remain in their home for as long as it is safe and reasonable to do so. This funding comes from the housing service's capital and revenue budget.

This Adaptations Policy specifically refers to adaptations carried out for tenants of the Council.
