Summary

Great Yarmouth Borough Council is committed to achieving high standards in its management of empty properties.

The aims of the Void Management Policy are to:

• identify new void properties quickly and minimise the time they are empty
• undertake repairs to properties efficiently so that rent loss is minimised and homes are available to re-let at the earliest possible time
• repair properties to an agreed lettable standard, providing new tenants with a clean, well maintained home
• minimise any adverse effects that a property standing empty has on neighbouring dwellings and the wider community
• allocate new homes to applicants with the highest housing need
