Who we are: Great Yarmouth Borough Council (the Council), Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 2QF, tel 01493 856100, is the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
How we use your information: We will use your personal information for the purposes of the provision of the Councils Selective Licencing Scheme. The lawful processing ground for this information is defined under Article 6(1)(e) of the UK GDPR i.e. the processing is necessary for the Council to perform a public task, this task includes the 'Fit and Proper' test, and to fulfil our obligations under Chapter 3 of the Housing and Planning Act 2016.
Data Sharing: We will share your data only with third parties that have an interest in the property and certain public authorities, namely:
- the Police
- Department of Justice
- Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service
- Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government
- other local authorities across the UK
- East of England Trading Standards Association
Your data may be shared with these authorities for the purposes mentioned above, data will also be shared with the East of England Trading Standards Association for the purposes of the prevention and detection of crime. In addition, the name and home address of both the Licence Holder and the Agent, plus information about the property, will be published in a Selective Licensing Public Register on our website and made freely available to the public.
If the property to be licensed is under a mortgage agreement, we will notify your lender and send a copy of the licence proposal for them to communicate any representation.
Retention: We will hold your personal data securely and ordinarily retain it for five years from the expiry of the licence period, after which time it will be securely deleted.
Your rights: You have a number or rights available to you, including the potential right to see copies of all the data held about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, to request the Council to restrict what it does with your data in certain circumstances, to object to what the Council may do with your data, and to data portability.
Please note that these rights are not absolute and there are circumstances where they do not apply or the Council may override these rights, however, if this is the case you will be informed of this.
