Community food provision

Community food stores

For residents who may be experiencing some financial challenges, there are many options to receive extra support.

Community Food Stores provide access to good quality, affordable food at a fraction of the price of a normal supermarket. Members of the food clubs can buy a range of fresh, dried, canned food, toiletries and household goods.

We currently have two Community Food Stores in the Borough of Great Yarmouth. With a proof of address, you can become a member of either Sally's Store in Great Yarmouth town, or Shrublands Community Food Club in Gorleston. Unlike food banks, Community Food Stores give you the choice of what you buy, like corner shops.

We partner with Sally's Store and Shrublands Community Food Club to help members get the help they need.

Sally's Store

In Great Yarmouth, the Salvation Army run Sally's Store, a community food store which is open to all residents living in NR30 postcodes.

Sally's Store offers fresh, frozen, prepackaged or tinned food and household products at a cheaper price than at the supermarket, but there may be a smaller range.

To become a member, bring your proof of address to their team at Peggotty Road Community Centre, Peggotty Road, Great Yarmouth, NR30 3EF.
