Taking place from September 8 until September 17, the national festival is England's largest celebration of history and culture. This year's theme of Creativity Unwrapped aims to reveal the colourful history of creativity, via historic buildings and famous people.

People are invited to come and view Great Yarmouth in a different light during Heritage Open Days and explore the borough's fascinating past, with the unique opportunity to visit some amazing buildings and places.

Highlights include visiting the birth place of Anna Sewell, author of Black Beauty, a visit to Great Yarmouth Minster's Bell Tower and a Pride Festival organised by the Pavilion Theatre.

The council's Heritage Guides are also running some events as part of the festival. The Picture of Yarmouth Talk will take place on Tuesday, September 12, at 2pm at the Town Hall.

The other event with availability is the Picture of Yarmouth Walk on Sunday, September 17, at 2pm. The walk will take approximately 90 minutes and begins at Great Yarmouth Minster. Booking online is essential for both because only limited spaces are available.

Councillor Carl Smith, leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, said: "Every year, we co-ordinate with Heritage Open Days to host just some of the thousands of events organised across England to celebrate our fantastic history and culture.

"We've always been extremely proud of the rich culture and heritage Great Yarmouth has to offer and this annual festival is a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors to dig deeper into that history."

Brochures are available for Great Yarmouth and the wider Norfolk events from the Town Hall in Great Yarmouth.

All events can be seen online.
