Great Yarmouth Community Hub Support

Information on how the Community Hub and partners can support you in challenging circumstances, including welfare and financial support.

Norfolk Client Hardship Service

Great Yarmouth residents can access support for living costs through the Norfolk County Council Client Hardship Team, formerly Norfolk Assistance Scheme, including help with:

  • daily living costs
  • food
  • fuel
  • household items i.e. fridge or cooker
  • school uniforms
  • essentials like toiletries and nappies

Visit the Client Hardship Service website (opens new window) or call 0344 800 8020 to find out more.

Household Support Fund

The Norfolk Client Hardship Service (opens new window), formerly Norfolk Assistance Scheme, is the main point of contact for residents seeking support with their living costs.

If support from the Norfolk Client Hardship Service is not appropriate in your case, Case Workers from the Great Yarmouth Community Hub can support residents who are struggling to pay for their everyday essentials using limited access to the Department of Work and Pensions Household Support Fund. This includes support for single households, families with or without children, older people, carers and people living with a disability. We work closely with the Client Hardship Service to ensure the right options and services are used to support you.

To receive contact from a Community Hub Case Worker, you can ask your existing support workers to make a referral. If you are not currently working with other services, you can call 0808 196 2238 or email earlyhelphub@great-yarmouth.gov.uk.

This funding runs from April 2023 to March 2024.

Tricky Period and Toiletries To Go

All Norfolk libraries offer free bags of sanitary products for you to pick up with no questions asked. If you are struggling to afford these necessities, please help yourself to a bag which will include 2 packs of sanitary products. Norfolk Libraries are also providing sustainable period products, which can be picked up where stocks allow.

Great Yarmouth Library also offers 'grab and go' bags of toiletries, with toothbrushes for adults and children available on request.

For more information, see the Tricky Period and Toiletries To Go (opens new window) website.

Hoarding and decluttering scheme

The Great Yarmouth Community Hub offers support to residents who have homes in need of decluttering. Decluttering can be necessary due to hoarding, or its impact on residents' health, safety and mental wellbeing.

Support we can offer includes:

  • organising skips to help you declutter
  • offering support through the process

All hoarding and decluttering cases are only brought to us through our professional partners, including your GP surgery and Adult Social Care. If you are worried about the impact of hoarding and decluttering on your life, speak to a medical professional.
