New Great Yarmouth family walk launches for summer holidays
Great Yarmouth Heritage Guides are launching a new family walk for the summer holidays called 'Seaside Adventure into the Past'.
The family-friendly walk will take place on Wednesday, July 24, and Sunday, August 18, starting at 11am and meeting in front of the Carlton Hotel on Great Yarmouth seafront.
The fun and interactive walk will also use an app, 'Actionbound', which allows families to not only listen to the Guide, but also hear voices from the past, watch short videos and answer questions to earn points.
The walk covers people from Great Yarmouth's past, some famous, some not. People who came to the town on holiday, to do business or because of the war.
Aimed at families with children aged over eight, the walk lasts about one hour and uses the Actionbound app to keep walkers engaged. The final stop on the walk includes a complimentary trip to Williamsons Old Penny Arcade at Merrivale Model Village for children to play on the vintage slot machines with five-penny tokens.
Peter Williamson, owner of Williamson's Old Penny Arcade, said: ''No visit to the seafront is complete without a visit to the amusement arcades. I am so pleased to have been asked if I would add my Old Penny Arcade to the tour, to make the final stop a 'step down memory Lane', bringing seaside history to life playing the machines from the 1920s to the 1970s and using real old penny tokens.''
Tickets for the walk for adults and children cost £4 per person with booking essential at www.heritage-walks.co.uk. Bookings close 48 hours ahead of the walk.
