Great Yarmouth Borough Council seeks public feedback on draft Licensing Policy

Great Yarmouth Borough Council has launched a public consultation to seek feedback on a new Licensing Policy.

Great Yarmouth Town Hall

The policy is required by law to be reviewed every five years and, ahead of the current one expiring in January 2026, the council is seeking public input ahead of a new version being finalised.

The document sets out the council's responsibilities under the Licensing Act 2003 and outlines its approach to premises that sell alcohol, provide regulated entertainment or serve hot food and drink late at night.

It aims to promote four main objectives - the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children from harm.

As part of the consultation there is a short online survey about the draft policy which people can complete and comments are welcomed about the document, which can be viewed on the Great Yarmouth Borough Council website.

A spokesperson for GYBC said: ''The views and input of members of the public are important to us as part of the process to review the Licensing Policy. The consultation is open until Friday, August 29, and any comments will be considered and the policy amended as appropriate.''

Any comments received as part of the consultation will be published by the council as part of the policy adoption process.
