Important notice: proposed building control fees

Please be advised that Great Yarmouth Borough Council's Building Control fees will change, with effect from 1 August 2026.

The revised charges have been calculated in accordance with the provisions of the Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010 and the Council's Building Control Charge Setting Scheme. The revised fees have been approved through the Council's formal governance and decision-making processes.

The updated charging structure has been developed to ensure that the Building Control service continues to recover the cost of providing statutory functions while maintaining a professional, efficient and sustainable service for our customers.

From 1 August 2026:

• Domestic Building Control charges will be available on this website through the updated Schedule of Charges.
• Commercial Building Control projects will continue to be individually assessed, with quotations provided based on the anticipated workload, complexity of the project and the applicable hourly rate.

Applications submitted on or after 1 August 2026 will be subject to the revised charges.
