Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan status
The Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan was adopted by Great Yarmouth Borough Council on the 27 July 2023 and by the Broads Authority on 28 July 2023. The plan now forms part of the development plan for both Great Yarmouth Borough Council and the Broads Authority.

Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan referendum
The Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan referendum was held on Thursday 22 June 2023. The question that was asked at the referendum was:
Do you want Great Yarmouth Borough Council and the Broads Authority to use the Neighbourhood Plan for the parish of Hemsby to help them decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?
The Neighbourhood Plan received a 'yes' vote at referendum on 22 June 2023 and was adopted at Full Council on 27 July 2023. Full details of the result can be found on the Result of referendum: Hemsby page.

Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan examination
The independent examiner, Tony Burton CBE BA MPhil (Town Planning) FRIBA FRSA, was appointed to examine the Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan. The submitted documents and accompanying evidence can be viewed below. The examiner assessed whether the Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan met the basic conditions and other matters set out in paragraph 8 of schedule 4B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended). Having assessed the plan, the examiner confirmed that he was satisfied it met these requirements, subject to modifications.

Hemsby area designation
An application by Hemsby Parish Council to have the whole parish of Hemsby designated as a neighbourhood plan area was received on 19 October 2017. The application was considered by Great Yarmouth Borough Council (and the Broads Authority), and the Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan area was formally designated on 10 November 2017:
