Dogs will have their day at fun show in Great Yarmouth's Market Place

DOGS from across the Great Yarmouth borough will have their day at a special charity event, all about man's best friend, to be held at the Market Place on Saturday, March 31, from 10am to 2pm.

Dog Show

Bark in the Market is a fun dog show arranged by Cllr Kerry Robinson Payne, the mayor, in aid of the Cinnamon Trust, one of the charities she is supporting during her special year in office.

The categories for the dog show are: most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, best rescue dog, happy families (groups of two or more dogs), best junior handler (under 16) and the dog the judges would most like to take home.

All dogs can enter any category. The entry fee is £1 per category per dog, with all money donated to the Cinnamon Trust, a national charity which supports elderly and terminally ill people and their pets.

Registration is from 10am, with the first show at 11am. Those judged first, second and third in each category will receive a certificate and rosette. One dog will also be chosen by Cllr Robinson-Payne to receive the Mayor's Special Award: some doggie treats.

Cllr Robinson-Payne said: "Bark in the Market is a great way to bring together our community of dog-lovers to have a bit of fun and add to the Saturday buzz in the Market Place, while raising funds for a really good cause.

"The dog shows we've held in previous years have proved hugely popular with both residents and visitors - so holding another one seemed a fitting way to raise funds for the Cinnamon Trust, one of the mayor's charities, who will have a stand at the event."
